General Summary

Ranma 1/2 was written by Rumiko Takahashi as a manga. Soon after an anime adaptation was created and both turned out to be a complete success in both Japan (1987) and The United States (1990).

Ranma 1/2 beings when he and his father are training in Jusenkyo by the Nyannīchuan pond. Although warned, they proceed to fight over the pond and wind up falling into a curse of transformation. Ranma discovers when splashed with cold water he turns into a woman, and his father a panda bear! Throughtout the series he is dedicated to finding a cure to the curse while experiencing crazy adventures.

The curse is not Ranma's only burden. He has three fianées (Akane Tendo, Shampoo, Ukyo Kuonji) and two obsessors (Kodachi Kuno, Tatewaki Kuno). Although Ranma fans know that Akane and Ranma are meant to be despite their hatred they share for eachother (this diminishes while the series continues). Not only does he have obsessors to deal with, Ranma has many people that envy him. Ryoga Hibiki hates him because he feels he stands between him and Akane, he has very deep feelings for her. Tatewaki Kuno hates Ranma as a boy because he has feelings for Akane as well (they are not as strong as Ryoga, he also loves Ranma as a girl). Mousse hates Ranma because of his love for Shampoo. He has been in love with Shampoo since they were children and cannot stand to see her engaged to Ranma.

Conclusion
Ranma 1/2 is a witty, enjoyable series. It happens to be one of my favorites and I feel like it does not get the praise it deserves these days. If you have not seen it I suggest you hurry to Amazon.com or YouTube and check it out.
